The State Civil Supplies Department will soon launch a State-level Command Control Centre on its premises here as part of its initiative to ensure transparency in supply of Public Distribution System (PDS) commodities,
Officials said the new centres would play a vital role in curbing diversions of PDS stock, close monitoring of godowns and help the beneficiaries to contact the officer concerned directly through phone call.
“Various initiatives are taken to revamp PDS commodities for proper distribution with the help of latest technology. We have installed surveillance cameras at mandal level stocking points and soon the department would fix cameras at all the fair price shops for close monitoring from CC Centre,” the official said.
The official said, so far 1,366 GPS devices were installed in vehicles, which



transported the commodities. “Through the new Command Control Centre the officials will have a close eye on GPS devices fixed in transport vehicles, biometric systems at all ration shops. Very soon, the department is planning to install GPS devices in 1,150 vehicle to monitor transportation of food grains without diversions,” he said.
According to him, the CC Centre would have a social media cell, where the department allows the beneficiaries to file complaints through Facebook, Whats App and other sites on various issues related to supply, distribution and quality of stock.The Civil Supplies Department would extend the same facility to all the district headquarters. “We are also developing software, through which the PDS beneficiaries will get SMS alerts on arrival of stock and an invoice after availing their share,” he said.
