In the midst of chilly wintry nights and equally cold early hours, the city’s historic churches were literally packed to the rafters.

The Christmas celebrations commenced with the specially scheduled midnight mass on Wednesday, where beautifully decked-up churches drew hundreds of devotees. Long queues formed as the faithful gathered to witness the solemn yet festive commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
