A driver and two ITI students were arrested for snatching chains from women in different parts of Mancherial town. Gold ornaments weighing 27 grams, two motorbikes, three mobile phones and an ID card of a news channel were recovered from them.

Giving details of the arrests, ACP Sadhana Rashmi Perumal said that the accused were Kotta Sandeep Kumar, a trolley driver of Kannala Basti in Bellampalli, Mallempalli Shravan, a resident of Goliwada in Peddapalli district and Mallarapu Srinivas from Autonagar in Ramagundam. Both Shravan and Srinivas were students of ITI course.

The three were detained when they were proceeding to dispose of the stolen property during a vehicle check held at Vempalli



village in Hajipur mandal.

In the course of interrogation, Sandeep Kumar confessed to committing the crime as he was addicted to leading a lavish lifestyle for quite a long time. He admitted that he was targeting women walking on the roads. He disclosed that he was taking assistance of the other two in indulging in the offences.

He revealed that he was showing the ID card of V 90 news channel to those who stopped him after snatching the chains.

The ACP commended Inspector B Narayana Naik, Sub-Inspector Tahseenuddin, constables Diwakar, Ramu and Mahesh Babu for apprehending the snatchers and recovering the property. She handed over cash rewards to the police officials.
