The Chaderghat police drew sharp criticism from people for checking the mobile phones of those having tea in a hotel. 

A video of a police official, asking an individual to unlock his password without any warrant, has gone viral on social media. Netizens reacted sharply against the police action saying that it is illegal and breach of privacy.

netizen said on ‘X’, “It is unacceptable. On one hand you talk of constitutional rights being trampled by BJP while police from your State are brazenly violating right to privacy on camera!” Another netizen said both the BJP and the Congress party are in the same page when it comes to violating the “fundamental rights” of the citizens of India. When contacted, senior police officials did not respond to the incident.
