Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu yesterday said the Centre and States should focus on providing quality public health facilities to people.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a Free Medical Camp organized by a Corporate Hospital at Swarna Bharat Trust in Hyderabad, he said, medical colleges and medical institutions should organize awareness campaigns on disease prevention and adopting lifestyles.

Observing that people tend to neglect their health and basic precautions, the Vice President said, many a times they

incur huge health care costs for treatment of ailments.

He added that awareness on disease prevention is extremely important as prevention is better than cure. Pointing out that sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy dietary habits are leading to increase in non-communicable diseases, he said, regular physical activity should become part of daily routine for people of all ages.
