Shankarpally police registered a cheating case against a man for taking Rs.2.70 crore from his elderly mother and later forcing her out of the house in Gajulagudem village of Shankarpally mandal.
According to police, Sushilamma inherited 22 acres of ancestral agricultural land along with her late husband, Devi Reddy. After selling a portion of the land for family needs, she distributed about 6.5 acres each to her two sons and later sold the remaining two acres for Rs.2.70 crore.
Trusting her younger son, Narasimha Reddy, she handed over the entire amount to him.
Talking to the media, Sushilamma alleged that
when she fell ill, she sought financial assistance from her son for medical expenses. However, she claimed that he refused to return the money and drove her out of the house.
She further alleged that she spent nearly a month living on the terrace of the same house, surviving on pieces of bread while being exposed to the sun and rain.
The elderly woman recently approached Rangareddy district collector C. Narayana Reddy and narrated her ordeal. Moved by her condition, the collector directed officials to initiate action. Based on the directions, Shankarpally police registered a cheating case against Narasimha Reddy and launched an investigation.
