Heart specialists at Care Hospitals, Malakpet, on Monday announced successful treatment of a 49-year-old male patient, who was brought to the hospital in cardiogenic shock, as his heart was not pumping enough blood.

The patient, a resident of Hyderabad, had also suffered a cardiac arrest and was initially treated at a local hospital where CPR was administered, followed by ventilator support and thrombolysis.

Care Hospital cardiologists said that at the time of admission, the patient’s blood pressure was extremely low, and

his heart’s pumping efficiency was only 40 per cent.

“We performed an emergency angiogram, which revealed 70 to 80 per cent blockage in the left main coronary artery and a blood clot in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery, a life-threatening condition that required immediate intervention,” Dr Naveen Kumar Cheruku, Senior Interventional Cardiologist and Head, Cardiology, Care Hospitals, Malakpet, said.

The senior cardiologist said that a stent was placed to clear the blockage and blood flow was restored successfully.
