Cancer screening centres will be opened in all districts soon, said Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha at the 18th foundation day of Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Centre on Friday. Currently, there is only one MNJ Cancer Hospital in the city for cancer treatment and therefore it was proposed to start cancer screening centres in all districts.
Kavitha said both private and government hospitals should have a synergy is detecting and providing treatment for cancer patients while adding that every year over lakhs of
people were dying of cancer and a large number of cases were being detected.
Kavitha, also urged Nandamuri Balakrishna, the chairman, board of trustees, Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital to consider Nizamabad parliamentary constituency, for establishing a satellite centre of the hospital.
Kavitha advised all women to undergo a breast and cervical cancer-check up every year. “It is not right to neglect health as it can be treated in the initial stages,” she said.
