Cabinet favours Medical College in Mahbubnagar

Telangana State Cabinet, which met here on Saturday, decided to set up a Medical College in Mahbunagar district, besides upgrading 92 urban health centers to town level primary health centers with extended facilities and filling posts in various departments to provide better governance.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who chaired the Cabinet meeting at Secretariat, is learnt to have given nod for recruitment for filling vacant posts in Health sector to boost medical services for people across the State. The Cabinet also discussed the State budget and focused on austerity measures. Stressing the need for reduction in non-plan budget allocations, KCR reportedly asked the ministers and



officials to come up with factual proposals by slashing expenditure to some extent.

The State government is likely to waive the arrears of power and water bills under GHMC purview and bring street vendors and hawkers under Medium and Small Business Act, it is learnt. The number of schemes should be decreased and shift the staff to other departments burdened with heavy work and services. He asked the ministers to tour the districts and make the need-based proposals of districts.

Regularisation of contract staff, hiking salary for outsourcing staff, double bedroom houses for the poor, sanitation in twin cities and steps to make Hyderabad a global city, flagship programs like Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya and to fetch better funds from the Centre, drought, agriculture and suicides are other issues that were prominently figured in the Cabinet. It is likely that the important sectors are to get better allocations in the budget.
