Cab driver dies by suicide in Uppal due to Online Betting addiction

Upset and crushed under mounting debts incurred through online betting, a 24-year-old cab driver died by suicide in Uppal.

The victim identified as Paladugu Sai, a native of Masanapalli in Gundala mandal of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, had been living in Shantinagar in Uppal, and working as a cab driver.

According to police, Sai had become addicted to online betting



over the past two years. To continue his betting habit, he reportedly borrowed lakhs of rupees from friends, relatives, and villagers.

He is also said to have taken multiple personal loans from five to six banks, pushing his total debt to nearly Rs 15 lakh.

With lenders pressuring him to repay the money, Sai allegedly consumed unknown pesticide at his residence on Saturday.
