A major burglary was reported in Attapur, after unidentified burglars decamped with cash and gold ornaments from a trader’s house during the Ramzan festivities in Jalal Baba Nagar.

According to police, the burglars broke open the house locks and entered the premises in the owner’s absence.

They ransacked the bedroom and broke open an almirah, stealing around Rs 20 lakh in cash, gold jewellery and silver articles.

The house owner, Mohd Firoz, had

reportedly locked the house and gone to a relative’s place to celebrate Ramzan when the incident occurred.

On returning on Sunday evening, he found the house burgled and alerted police by dialing 100.
Police suspect that the suspects may be known to the owner and had prior knowledge of his movements, executing the theft within a short span of time.

The Attapur police reached the spot, and teams including dog squad and clues team were deployed to collect evidence.
