Call it nerves, pressure of being caught or sheer lack of experience, burglars who broke into a liquor shop at Chityala town on Sunday night fled with just two beer bottles and Rs.20,000 in cash, leaving behind shelves stocked with liquor and a trail of unanswered questions.
What has left both residents and police perplexed is the choice of the offenders to walk away with only two beer bottles despite the shop being well stocked.
Could they be teetotallers, or was it that they didn’t know the stolen liquor could fetch them more
money than what they got from the shop? Unanswered questions are galore.
The burglary itself was no casual act. The shutters were forced open using iron rods and other tools, a process that took considerable time and was clearly captured on surveillance cameras.
The incident occurred at Kushi Wines, located along the highway in Chityala town. According to police, the offenders arrived late at night, broke open the locks and shutters, and managed to steal Rs.20,000 in cash from the counter, a mobile phone and two beer bottles before fleeing.
