BRS writes to EC, GHMC over flaws in SIR

Thu 14 May 2026, 01:38:29
BRSLP deputy leader and Sanath Nagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav wrote to the Election Commission of India and the GHMC Commissioner alleging serious irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme. A BRS delegation led by senior leader Gurram Pawan Kumar Goud submitted the letters to the officials concerned on Wednesday.

In his representation, Srinivas Yadav alleged that the SIR was being conducted casually by deploying poorly trained staff as Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He said several BLOs were skipping door-to-door surveys and struggling with

mobile app data entry and voter mapping procedures.

The delegation also pointed to confusion as some field staff were reportedly prioritising population census work over the SIR programme, disrupting the revision process. The issue came to light during a meeting held by Talasani Srinivas Yadav earlier in the day with BRS Booth Level Agents, who briefed him on ground-level problems.

The BRS urged officials to issue clear instructions on whether the census or the SIR exercise should take precedence to prevent further confusion among BLOs and voters.
