The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) mounted a sharp political attack on the Congress government through a street play staged at Telangana Bhavan, accusing it of subverting constitutional values while claiming to defend them. Throughout the play, “Mother Constitution” was shown in chains symbolising the erosion of democratic norms in the State.

Performed by students from the University of Hyderabad, the play used satire and symbolism to portray what the party described as governance failures, corruption and growing authoritarianism under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also targeted, with scenes

questioning the party’s claims of safeguarding the Constitution while encouraging defections and political opportunism in the State.

Dramatised segments referred to alleged attempts to lure legislators, land encroachments, unfulfilled promises and diversion of public funds to non-essential events. Symbolic references were made to HYDRAA actions and the Lagacherla land issue involving tribal communities. The play ended with a call for citizens to defend constitutional values.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao and other party leaders felicitated the students for reflecting contemporary politics through theatre.
