BRS urges Telangana government to protect Waqf properties

Leaders of the BRS Minority Cell on Tuesday urged the Telangana government to take immediate action over the alleged assault on a Waqf Board employee and strengthen the protection of Waqf properties across the State.

In a representation submitted to the Secretary, Minorities Welfare Department, B Shafiullah, the leaders alleged that Syed Asger Ali, a Waqf Board employee, was attacked by alleged land grabbers while performing official duties to protect Waqf land at Guttala Begampet. They claimed that despite the incident, no effective action, including the registration of an FIR against the accused, had been taken.

The memorandum demanded the immediate registration of an FIR, a fair and speedy investigation, the arrest of all those involved in the attack, and adequate



security for Waqf Board officers and staff. It also sought urgent measures to prevent encroachments on Waqf lands and strict legal action against those allegedly occupying Waqf properties illegally.

The BRS leaders said any delay in acting against the accused would embolden encroachers and put Waqf Board officials at greater risk while discharging their duties. They urged the government to ensure the safety of Waqf Board personnel and safeguard Waqf assets across Telangana.

The representation was submitted by Syed Akbar Hussain, former Chairman of the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation and BRS State Minorities leader; Waheed Ahmed, advocate, former member of the Telangana State Waqf Board and BRS State Minorities leader; and SK Mohd Azhar, BRS senior leader.
