The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will stage a protest outside the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office in Hyderabad on October 10, intensifying its campaign demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The BRS has raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, including the alleged large-scale deletion of voters in constituencies represented by its MLAs. The party has demanded a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the voter revision process.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the Supreme Court should take suo motu cognisance of the alleged irregularities and order an independent judicial investigation by a sitting

judge.

“Nothing is greater than the Constitution of India. And no Indian citizen can be stripped of their right to vote. Gyanesh Kumar must go. No individual is above the institution,” he said in a post on X.

Questioning what he described as attempts to protect the Chief Election Commissioner, Rama Rao asked how one person could be considered more important than the rights of 1.4 billion Indians.

“This nation has seen many individuals come and go, and it has stayed strong, it has survived beautifully. So why this desperation to protect one man?” he asked.

He asserted that the time had come for Gyanesh Kumar and anyone attempting to build what he called a “quasi-system” that destroys the soul of the nation to step aside.
