BRS Legislature Party deputy leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Sunday called upon party cadres to organise grand celebrations across Telangana on February 17 to mark the birthday of party president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, Srinivas Yadav said special prayers would be held in temples, churches and mosques across the State. A cake-cutting programme would be organised at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, with BRS working president KT Rama Rao attending as chief guest.

The former Minister termed Chandrashekhar Rao as a leader who provided uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, strengthened irrigation infrastructure and introduced welfare schemes

such as Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, pensions and residential Gurukul schools. The former Chief Minister had governed the State effectively for 10 years and resolved long-pending issues related to irrigation and drinking water.

Referring to the recent municipal elections, Srinivas Yadav said the BRS secured around 10 lakh votes, while the ruling Congress received about 15 lakh votes. He said BRS cadres displayed strong fighting spirit despite being in the opposition and asserted that the party received support cutting across sections.

Later, he inspected the arrangements for the birthday celebrations at the party headquarters, along with Telangana Bhavan in-charge Ravula Chandra Shekhar Reddy, and other leaders.
