Former Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday warned that the BRS would block the Outer Ring Road (ORR) if the Congress government failed to release Rythu Bharosa assistance to over two lakh farmers in the Rangareddy, Medchal–Malkajgiri and Patancheru districts.
Addressing a farmers’ meeting at the Jinnaram mandal headquarters in support of farmers from the Patancheru Assembly constituency, Rao said the Congress government had ignored farmers’ demands and failed to deliver on its promises. He alleged that Rythu Bharosa benefits were denied to farmers for the past two seasons and that over half of the state’s farmers had not received the promised loan waiver.
The former minister also accused the government of humiliating Lagacherla and Gadwal farmers who had opposed land acquisition plans. Recalling the BRS government’s decade-long support to the farming community under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he said farmers were now being denied even Rythu Bima benefits.
Exposing what he termed the “lies” of Chief Minister A
Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao slammed the Congress government for failing to implement the promised free crop insurance for all farmers. He further alleged that Revanth Reddy lacked basic knowledge on critical issues such as interstate river water disputes.
“His ignorance has been exposed during public meetings and speeches. He cannot effectively represent Telangana on national platforms,” Rao said.
Criticising the Chief Minister’s frequent references to Chandrashekhar Rao and the BRS in his speeches, Harish Rao said, “If the BRS has no future, why does Revanth Reddy keep talking about us in every speech?”
He said that after experiencing Congress rule for nearly one-and-a-half years, the people of Telangana wanted Chandrashekhar Rao back as Chief Minister.
“All recent surveys are pointing to the same,” he asserted.
MLC Dr V Yadava Reddy, BRS MLA Chintha Prabhakar, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, K Manik Rao and other BRS leaders were present at the meeting.
