BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan lashed out at the Congress government, calling the Miss World beauty pageant hosted in Hyderabad under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy a black mark on Telangana’s culture and dignity. He blamed the government for gross negligence following allegations made by Miss England, Milla Magee.
He said the event, marred by controversy after Milla Magee’s withdrawal, had brought global embarrassment to the State. He demanded that the Chief Minister issue an official apology for disrespecting Indian traditions and for the humiliation of a foreign guest.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana
Bhavan on Thursday, Sravan questioned the silence of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) over the incident. He also criticised the government for not registering an FIR despite public outcry. “Had this happened abroad, the consequences would have been immediate,” he said.
The BRS MLC urged Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Meenakshi Natarajan to intervene and ensure that women’s dignity was preserved. He demanded transparency into the incident and questioned why no inquiry details or CCTV footage had been released. He confirmed that the BRS had filed an RTI to uncover the truth.
