BRS seeks EC action against Revanth Reddy for ‘vulgar remarks’ during Jubilee Hills campaign

BRS leaders on Wednesday lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his ‘vulgar, defamatory and undemocratic’ remarks against BRS working president KT Rama Rao during a political rally ahead of the Jubilee Hills byelection.

A BRS delegation comprising former MLA Balka Suman, BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar and BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav met the Jubilee Hills Returning Officer, urging strict action against the Chief Minister for violating the Model Code of Conduct. They said Revanth Reddy’s comments were not only personal and derogatory but also intended to incite hatred among voters.

“A person holding the office of the Chief Minister should uphold democratic values, not demean



them,” the BRS delegation said in its complaint.

Speaking on the occasion, Balka Suman accused Revanth Reddy of speaking in a language unfit for a Chief Minister, and making comments out of fear of defeat in the Jubilee Hills bypoll.

“He failed to improve Hyderabad as Municipal and Home Minister. Now, facing rejection, he is resorting to abusive politics. We will also send our complaints to the Election Commission of India and the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer,” he said.

RS Praveen Kumar demanded that Revanth Reddy be banned from campaigning. “He has violated the election code by making religion-based and hateful remarks. The EC must act,” he said, adding that the Congress government’s desperation was visible ahead of polling on November 11.
