Tension prevailed in Yellareddy municipality after BRS leaders staged a protest alleging that the police were favouring the ruling Congress party in the elections.
Accusing the police of extending undue support to Congress MLA from Yellareddy Madanmohan Rao, former BRS MLA Jajula Surender squatted on the road in protest.
“Right from DSP, CI and SI, all the police officers are favouring the
Congress MLA and working against the democratic principles. These are not fair elections,” Surender charged.
As the former MLA and his supporters squatted on the road and raised slogans against the Congress government, the police attempted to bundle them into their vehicles, leading to heated arguments between the two sides.
Later, the police took the former MLA and other BRS leaders into custody.
