The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday raised serious concerns over alleged security lapses during the movement of former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition K Chandrashekhar Rao’s convoy in Hyderabad. The party demanded an inquiry into the absence of a local traffic pilot escort as Rao proceeded to depose before the Justice PC Ghose Commission.
Taking to X, BRS leader and former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar questioned the Telangana Police’s protocol, pointing out that as the Leader of the Opposition with Cabinet rank, Chandrashekhar Rao should have received the same or higher level of security as a State Minister. “Is this how VVIPs are protected in Telangana? The
Opposition leader’s convoy was disrupted at every step,” he said.
Praveen Kumar, who accompanied the former Chief Minister’s convoy from Erravelli in Siddipet district to BRK Bhavan in Hyderabad, also sought answers from the Director General of Police and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner. He expressed dismay over the alleged discrimination in protocol, suggesting that the incident reflects a deliberate attempt to undermine Chandrashekhar Rao’s position.
“What harm has KCR garu done to the police department to deserve such negligence?” Praveen Kumar asked, taking a swipe at the Congress government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the alleged lapse.
