The BRS has moved the Telangana High Court challenging the Congress government’s appointment of multiple advisors with Cabinet rank, pointing out that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy himself had filed a similar PIL in 2017 questioning such appointments when the BRS was in power.

BRS leader Errolla Srinivas filed the PIL questioning the appointment of MLAs Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, P Sudharshan Reddy and K Premsagar Rao as advisors to the government with Cabinet rank. He also challenged the appointment of K Keshava Rao, G Chinna Reddy, Vem Narender Reddy, Mohamad Ali Shabbir, AP Jithender Reddy and Mallu Ravi in the same capacity.

The PIL further questioned the appointment of Harkara Venugopal Rao, Adhityanath Das, K Srinivas Raju, Prasanna Kumar Surya Devara and K Penta Reddy as advisors, alleging violation of Article 164(1A) of the

Constitution.

The matter was listed before the First Court comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin. In the petition, Srinivas pointed out that Revanth Reddy, as an opposition leader in 2017, had filed W.P. (PIL) No. 14 challenging the appointment of Koppula Eshwar, V Prashanth Reddy, G Vivekananda and others as advisors with Cabinet rank on the same constitutional grounds.

Srinivas argued that despite having earlier opposed such appointments as unconstitutional, Revanth Reddy himself had now appointed Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and others as advisors with Cabinet rank, contradicting the stand he took in 2017.

On Thursday, the High Court overruled registry objections, directed the registry to number the new PIL and ordered that Revanth Reddy’s 2017 PIL be listed along with the one filed by Errolla Srinivas.
