Bharat Rashtra Samithi celebrated Deeksha Diwas across the State on Saturday marking the 16th anniversary of the historic fast unto death taken up by party president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in 2009, which forced the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre to announce the process for formation of a separate Telangana.
Across the state, pink party flags fluttered, portraits of
Chandrashekhar Rao were garlanded and ‘palabhishekham’ was performed as a mark of gratitude. Party leaders and workers called it the day that brought ‘real freedom’ to the people of Telangana after decades of struggle.
At district BRS party offices, leaders and cadres performed ‘palabhishekam’ to portraits of Telangana Thalli as well. Senior leaders and hundreds of workers participated.
