BRS cadres staged massive protests across the erstwhile Khammam district, condemning the arrest of party legislators at the Assembly in Hyderabad on Monday.
Led by former MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, a huge rally was taken out on the streets of Sathupally. Party cadres wearing black scarves and carrying black flags raised slogans against the Congress government.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, he strongly condemned the police action of obstructing BRS MLCs and MLAs who went to the Assembly wearing black T-shirts. He said
questioning the government over public issues was the right of the Opposition and that suppressing the voice of dissent was inappropriate.
“If Congress leader Rahul Gandhi could wear black attire in Parliament, why were BRS public representatives not allowed the same privilege in the Telangana Assembly?” Veeraiah questioned.
In Khammam, former BRS city party president Pagadala Nagaraju organised a massive road blockade, while former ZP chairman L Kamal Raju led a large-scale road blockade in Bonakal mandal of Madhira constituency.
