Bifurcation a reality, accept it: CM KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday made it clear that as part of the Telangana State’s fundamental policy of having cordial relations with neighbouring States, the bifurcation problems will be settled with Andhra Pradesh with wisdom.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a preparatory meeting at Pragathi Bhavan here as a prelude to a meeting scheduled on Friday in Vijayawada to discuss division of Road Transport Corporation (RTC) properties between TS and AP States. The meeting finalised the stand to be taken by Telangana State on the issue.

The conditions, rules and guidelines adopted whenever States are bifurcated in the country were implemented at the time of bifurcation of erstwhile AP too. In case of any problems and issues, both the States should solve them with mutual consent. There should be natural understanding between the two States on issues, failing which Central intervention will be required,” he

said.

Even if problems persist, the Supreme Court has issued the guidelines, he said, pointing out that the Apex Court had clearly mentioned the Bifurcation Act. “All problems should be solved within the ambit of the Act which was passed by the highest body in the country, the Parliament, and only the Parliament has the right to make any changes,” the Chief Minister observed.

Stating that the bifurcation was a reality and had to be accepted by everyone, Chandrashekhar Rao said each should rule according to their wisdom. “Each State should run its own institutions. Division of APSRTC is a direct fallout of the AP bifurcation. The State bifurcation rules apply to APSRTC division too , and properties will be distributed in tune with the Act passed by the Parliament.  The Board has no powers over this,” the Chief Minister clarified and instructed the officials concerned to voice the same at the Vijayawada meeting.
