Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Limited (TSSPDCL) CMD G Raghuma Reddy cautioned the public not to believe fraudulent calls or messages on electricity bills payment. In an advisory issued to consumers on Thursday, he said that it had come to his notice that some unidentified persons were sending fraudulent messages to consumers in the guise of collecting pending power bills.

The callers dial up gullible consumers and threaten to cut off power supply overnight if they fail to pay the bill immediately. They were also collecting details of bank accounts, credit and debit cards and withdrawing money from consumers’ accounts.

He said the employees from the department never collect details of bank account or debit or credit cards. The TSSPDCL does not send any

website link through SMS for payment of bills. It only forwards details of current month bill and arrears to consumers. The consumers can access information of current bills and arrears through TSSPDCL website www.tssouthernpower.com or mobile app.

In case of any complaints related to bill payments, the consumers can register their complaints online and can contact the section officer (AE) for redressal of their grievance. The company cannot cut off power supply overnight, he said.

Raghuma Reddy appealed to consumers not to share details of bank accounts and not to follow suspicious links for payment of electricity bills. The consumers may register their complaints with the police over such suspicious acts, if any, he said.
