A discarded strand of the banned Chinese manja, which is still being sold widely in the district, slit the throat of a migrant worker, Avadesh Kumar (35), at Fasalwadi village in Sangareddy mandal on Wednesday, killing him on the spot.

Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had come to Sangareddy to eke out a livelihood

by working in paddy fields. He was travelling on a motorcycle from Fasalwadi to Sangareddy to purchase vegetables when a discarded Chinese manja hanging across the road suddenly cut his neck, causing severe bleeding.

Though passersby alerted an ambulance, Kumar succumbed to his injuries before it reached the spot.
