Bandi Sanjay slams Congress government over lack of amenities during Secunderabad Bonalu

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay on Sunday accused the Congress government of failing to provide basic amenities for devotees visiting the historic Ujjaini Mahankali Temple during the Secunderabad Bonalu celebrations.

Speaking to mediapersons after offering prayers at the temple, he alleged that while the government had allocated Rs 33 crore for Ramzan festivities, it had sanctioned only Rs 20 crore for Bonalu celebrations in over 3,400 temples across Greater Hyderabad.

“Each temple did not even get Rs 6,000. The temple managements cannot even use the hundi collections. This is very unfortunate,”



Bandi Sanjay said.

He alleged that devotees, particularly women and children, faced several hardships due to inadequate facilities. There was insufficient provision of drinking water, and proper sheds were not arranged for the convenience of devotees, he claimed.

The Union Minister said the Rs 20 crore allocation was inadequate and alleged that the Hindu community was being forced to seek adequate budgetary support for its festivals.

Referring to the upcoming Ganesh festivities, Bandi Sanjay said there were apprehensions over the government’s planning and budgetary allocations.
