An Automatic Coach Washing Plant has been commissioned at Kacheguda Railway Station at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore by the South Central Railway (SCR).

The fully automated washing plant apart from ensuring quick and high standard cleaning of an entire train rake also reduces water and electricity consumption during primary and secondary maintenance. Inaugurating the facility, SCR GM, Gajanan Mallya said the zone would make all

efforts to initiate new and innovative measures for a positive change in the quality of rail travel.

Each rake of 24 coaches would take around 15 minutes to undergo cleaning while power consumption is nearly 10 units. The manpower requirement also scales down to just one person. The automatic coach washing would reduce water consumption by around 60 per cent as compared to manual washing.
