The strike announced by auto drivers wing the Informal Labour’s and Workers Federation (ILWF) in the city on Tuesday witnessed skirmishes between passengers and union members at different places in the city.
The ILWF announced a dharna and strike on Tuesday demanding the government ban autos registered in district, auto cab services and
release Rs 12,000 financial assistance announced to the auto drivers following the Maha Lakshmi free bus travel scheme for women.
Since morning auto union members were seen stopping the auto rickshaws plying on the road and asking the passengers to get down.
The police tried to intervene at a few places but passengers faced problems.
