An auto driver rescued a six-year-old girl after her mother threw her into Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon, reportedly distressed over her daughter's medical condition and the inability to afford treatment expenses.
According to Inspector Anjan Ali, the woman, Shabhana, is a resident of Hasmatpet in Old Bowenpally. Her husband had left her, and she was earning a livelihood by working as a domestic help. She has two daughters.
Her younger daughter,
Ruksana, six, had been suffering from a large intestine infection for the past few days. Despite taking the child to various hospitals, her condition did not improve. Distressed by the situation and unable to bear the medical expenses, Shabhana reached Hussain Sagar on Thursday afternoon.
At around 2 pm, she threw the child into the lake. An auto driver who witnessed the incident immediately jumped into the water and rescued the girl. She was subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
