Tension prevailed for quite some time at LB Nagar after an auto rickshaw driver climbed onto a cell phone tower to protest against the shortage of auto LPG at dispensing station.
The driver, aged around 40 years, climbed onto the telecom tower in the afternoon and started shouting that he would end his life. The other auto drivers told the police that the man slipped into depression as he was forced to stand in a long queue to get his fuel tank
refilled.
On information, the LB Nagar police reached the spot and started efforts to persuade the driver to come down. The police assured to take his problems to the notice of the senior officials of the government department concerned. As a precautionary measure, a fire tender was also called to the spot, and an ambulance was kept on standby.
The auto drivers have been facing problems for nearly a month in view of large scale shortage of auto LPG at dispensing stations in the city.
