Attender in Mayor's office test positive

An attender working in the peshi of Mayor Bonthu Rammohan tested Covid-19 positive.

This the second such case that was reported in the GHMC head office within a week. After the attender’s case came to light, the Mayor’s chamber was closed for sanitisation.

Meanwhile, a central team from New Delhi visited the city to know about the steps taken to contain the spread of the virus in GHMC limits.

Central government Joint Secretary Sanjay Jaju along with central team members Vikas Gade and Dr Ravinder held review meeting with GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and other senior officials on the steps taken to contain the spread of virus.

He enquired about the situation prevalent in zone, ward and circle wise in the GHMC



area. Private hospitals and labs in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai were conducting Covid tests and around 70 per cent of tests were becoming positive cases from there, he said.

Jaju discussed in detail regarding number of positive cases in the GHMC area, methods adopted in contact tracing, facilities available for testing, hospitals, home quarantine, home isolation, containment issues with the officials.

He said in the present scenario to contain coronavirus spread, home quarantine was the only method available. As the cases were increasing, all District Collectors, health officials, deputy commissioners in GHMC limits were asked to create a WhatsApp group to improve coordination issues and also to share information without any time lag.
