Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Friday instructed the officials concerned to immediately identify the suitable places for providing accommodation to the attendants accompanying the patients to the major hospitals in Hyderabad. He also asked them to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner at subsidised prices, in collaboration with Hare Krishna Mission Charitable Foundation.

A large number of attendants along with the patients are coming to the hospitals like NIMS, Niloufer, Osmania, Gandhi Hospital, TIMS, King Koti, Fever Hospital, MJ Cancer Hospital and Government Maternity Hospital among others. The Chief Secretary instructed that these arrangements shall be made available from the Dasara festival onwards.

This will benefit large number of attendants accompanying the patients, he observed. Necessary arrangements such as proper shelter,



drinking water, sanitary facilities, etc., for comfortable waiting of the attendants, duly keeping the needs of lady attendants also would be provided.

In the wake of an assurance given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the State Assembly recently, the Chief Secretary held a meeting with the senior officials of the Medical and Health Department as well as the superintendents of major government hospitals in Hyderabad here. He asked them to initiate measures and address the issues being faced by attendants in the absence of proper accommodation and other facilities.

Health Secretary SAM Rizvi, Hare Krishna Mission Charitable Foundation CEO Kaunteya Das, CMO OSD Dr Gangadhar, TSMSIDC managing director Chandrashekar and the superintendents of other major hospitals in Hyderabad, attended the meeting.
