Appeal made to President to dismiss Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister

Former Chairman of the AP Vikalangula Corporation, Bakka Judson, has appealed to President Droupadi Murmu to dismiss Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy from office following his admission that the government was tapping phones, stating it was not illegal if done with appropriate permissions.

In a letter to the President on Friday, Judson stated that the Chief Minister had acknowledged phone tapping during an informal interaction with journalists in New Delhi on July 23.

He termed the on-record statement startling, especially amid rising allegations of surveillance, not just on political rivals but also on Revanth Reddy’s own Cabinet colleagues. A section of the media had also reported



that multiple Ministers in the Cabinet were under surveillance, he pointed out.

“These revelations suggest a State-sponsored internal espionage network targeting constitutional functionaries, Ministers, and party colleagues. It not only shatters democratic norms but also violates the Right to Privacy and potentially breaches several provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, and the Information Technology Act, 2000,” he stated.

“I urge Your Excellency to exercise your constitutional authority and recommend the immediate dismissal of Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister of Telangana, pending a judicial or independent inquiry into these serious charges,” Judson appealed in the letter.
