A woman from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is said to have been tested positive for the new strain of coronavirus that was first detected in Britain. Officials said that that the new strain of the virus was detected during genome sequencing at CCMB. However, there is no official confirmation either from central or state government.

With the latest case, the number of people in Telangana tested positive for the new strain of virus reached two including a 49-year-old man from Warangal Urban district. The man who returned



from the UK in the second week of December tested positive on Monday and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Warangal. 

Meanwhile, the man's mother also tested positive for the normal coronavirus, however, the samples were sent to genome sequencing at CCMB. The test results are awaited. After the Warangal man tested positive, the health authorities in Telangana chalked out a plan to keep patients suspected of being infected with the new strain of virus in 14-day mandatory quarantine.
