ANMs, MHAs protest at Koti over recruitment, reduced workload

Hundreds of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and Multipurpose Health Assistants (MPHAs) on Thursday participated in a huge dharna in front of the office of the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare at Koti, demanding immediate redressal of grievances related to discharging their regular duties.

ANMs and MHAs from several districts gathered with banners and raised slogans, pointing out that field-level staff were



facing intense operational stress due to heavy workloads and unrealistic administrative targets.

“There is intense pressure on all ANMs and MHAs, as they are forced to meet targets that are humanly impossible. Our ANMs and MHAs work hard, but they do not get quality working conditions, commensurate with the hard work that they put in,” said K Yada Naik, General Secretary, Telangana United Medical and Health Employees Union.
