Saroornagar police have registered a criminal case against a Circle Inspector from Bobbili in Andhra Pradesh and other unidentified persons following allegations that they illegally entered a house, forcibly took away a man, assaulted his wife and seized her mobile phone.

According to the FIR, the incident took place between 7.30 pm and 8 pm on June 30 at Madhavanagar in Bairamalguda under the Saroornagar police station limits.

The complainant, K. Vijaya Lakshmi, alleged that several men in civil clothes identified themselves as Andhra Pradesh police personnel before entering her residence without following due legal procedure.

She

alleged that the team forcibly took away her husband, K. Venkatrami Reddy. When she questioned their actions, they allegedly abused her in obscene language, pushed her aside and seized her mobile phone.

Vijaya Lakshmi further alleged that if the men were indeed police personnel, they were required to wear uniforms bearing nameplates, disclose details of the case, provide an arrest memo and produce her husband before the jurisdictional magistrate in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines.

She alleged that these mandatory procedures were ignored and sought legal action against Bobbili Circle Inspector Srinivas and the other unidentified persons.
