The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) got a new president on Monday after its Ombudsman, retired Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, removed incumbent chief A. Jagan Mohan Rao over serious allegations of misconduct and document fabrication.
In a detailed order passed in Case No. 5 of 2025, the Ombudsman held that Jagan Mohan Rao did not deserve to continue as HCA president, noting the CID case against him and the High Court's bail condition restraining him from enter-ing HCA
and related premises.
The petition was filed by Amarnath, secretary of Galaxy Cricket Club, who had lost the 2023 HCA presidential election by one vote, securing 62 votes against Jagan Mohan Rao's 63.
Citing the narrow margin and the allegations, the Ombudsman removed Jagan Mohan Rao and declared Amarnath as the new president of HCA, directing that he be allowed to take charge within a week and continue for the remainder of the term.
