Encroachment attempts on open wells have come under scrutiny after residents of Venrock Enclave in Alwal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, raised a complaint at Prajavani held by Hydraa on Monday, seeking protection for the 200-year-old Chintabai open well and preservation of its historical traces.

A V Ranganath, in an official release, said residents reported that some individuals attempted to encroach on the historical open well, which they said was once a drinking water source. 

At Hydraa’s Prajavani, a total of 32 complaints were received seeking protection of parks and restoration of open spaces.
