Strict measures, including installation of jammers and CCTV cameras, were put in place for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG scheduled for Sunday. The examination is being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2 am to 5 pm across the country.

Candidates have to report at the exam venue by 12 pm and they will not be allowed in after 1.30 pm. “If you report beyond the gate closing time (1.30 pm) at the centre, you will not be allowed to enter the test venue. Instructions were issued for strict compliance. Several pre-examination formalities need to be completed and therefore you reach on time,” NTA said in an advisory issued on its website.

Candidates were asked to download colour printouts of the admit card. Students need to carry passport size photographs same as uploaded on the online application form. One passport size photograph has to be affixed to the admit card while the other has on the attendance sheet at the centre.

This apart, they should

carry a valid and original photo identity proof — PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar card or ration card. Identity cards issued by school/colleges/universities/coaching centers, Aadhaar enrollment receipt without Aadhaar number and photocopies or images stored in mobile phones will not be accepted, NTA said, adding that no candidate will be allowed to enter the centre without identity verification.

Students are barred from carrying instruments, geometry, pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper, stationery, printed or written material, eatables, water, mobile phone, earphones, microphones, pager, calculator, docupen, slide rules, log tables, camera and tape recorder into the exam centre.

Likewise, students should not wear or carry a watch, including electronic ones with facilities of calculator, or any metallic item or electronic devices into the exam hall. But, diabetic students will be allowed to bring eatables such as sugar tablets, fruits like banana, apple, and orange and a transparent water bottle.

NTA advised students to avoid wearing ornaments such as ring, earrings, nose-pin, chain/necklace, pendants, badge and brooch, among others. They were also asked to dress in light clothes, preferably half sleeves, slippers, sandals with low heel, and not shoes. “In case, candidates come in cultural/customary dress at the exam centre, they should report before 12 noon so that there is enough time for proper checking without any inconvenience to the candidate while maintaining the sanctity of the examination,” NTA said.
