Hyderabad: On Saturday, Akbaruddin Owaisi urged the State government to transfer the Minor Irrigation Department's responsibility for restoring lakes to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

Owaisi stated during his participation in the Assembly's discussion of budget demands that lakes and

tanks under the GHMC and HMDA jurisdiction were excluded from the Mission Kakatiya program, that they were not restored, and that the majority of them were on the verge of extinction. He stated that because GHMC and HMDA lacked the funds to restore or rejuvenate lakes, it would be preferable to transfer it to the Minor Irrigation Department, which could easily cover the restoration costs.
