According to officials, fraudsters might use this route as well in view of the high demand for mangoes, particularly online.

Cyber Dost, an awareness platform under the Union home ministry issued an advisory on such scams. "Beware of fake advertisements of mango sellers online. Be vigilant, be CyberSafe. Report any cybercrime at www.cybercrime.gov.in and dial 1930 in case of online financial fraud," the advisory said.

Meanwhile, ACP Cybercrimes -Hyderabad city police K.V.M. Prasad said that so far

they have not received any such complaints. However, since fraudsters do not leave any opportunity to exploit the public, it is always safe to be alert, as prevention is always better than cure.

"When you are making any purchase online, verify the details of the seller, contact details and most importantly never make any transactions on unverified websites or apps. If you see any website offering exorbitant discounts or offers, you should be suspicious of it," he said.
