Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested legal metrology inspector B Praveen Kumar for allegedly demanding a bribe.

According to Khammam range ACB DSP Y Ramesh, licensed repairers install and repair weighing and measuring equipment at petrol pumps, supermarkets and weighbridges used for weighing heavy trucks, and their work needs to be



certified by the legal metrology department.

The accused allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to certify a weighbridge repaired by a licensed technician but later reduced the amount to Rs 5,000. 

Their telephonic conversation was recorded and, based on the recorded evidence, Praveen Kumar was arrested on Monday night at his office in Khammam.
