A newly wed woman allegedly decamped with cash and jewelry from her in-laws’ house in Yacharam of Rangareddy district.

The husband of the runaway bride in Yacharam, was apparently over the moon after getting a bride for himself at the age of 40.

None of the alliances earlier had worked out for him and it was after paying a broker a massive commission of nearly Rs.1 lakh that he finally got this bride.

According to the broker, the woman was an orphan from Vijayawada. For the groom, that was not a problem and he rushed to Vijayawada last  Thursday along with a close friend and the broker to fix the wedding date.

However, his patience ran out there, and without even returning to Yacharam or informing any of his relatives, they allegedly got married secretly in the same lodge where he was staying. The couple then went to Yadadri temple and performed some rituals usually done by

newlyweds.

Sources said they came to Hyderabad on Friday, with a close friend of the bride accompanying them, and did some shopping to buy jewelry, including a 3 tola gold chain and clothes worth Rs.40,000. He then took his bride and her friend to his house in Yacharam by late night.

It is said that the women, under the guise of putting clothes and valuables in an almirah in the bedroom, packed Rs.2 lakh, clothes and jewelry in a bag apart from booking a taxi.

According to  heartbroken groom, his wife then sent him to get a tablet for her headache and by the time he returned, she and her friend were both missing.

The man is said to have approached the local village heads for help, though a formal complaint is yet to be lodged with the police. The Yacharam police said no one had approached them yet and that any action to find the two missing women would depend on a formal complaint coming in.
