The Director of Medical Education (DME) of Telangana has issued termination orders for 94 government doctors found to be on unauthorised absence for more than a year.
The orders, issued on February 23, followed a series of show-cause notices sent to these doctors in May 2025.
While some members of the teaching faculty submitted explanations, the DME, Telangana, Dr A Narendra Kumar, said the explanations were examined, ultimately rejected and
final termination orders were issued.
The DME orders invoked the Telangana Leave Rules of 1933 and Subordinate Service Rules of 1996, stating that the absentee doctors are ‘deemed to have resigned’ due to their prolonged absence from duty.
