Under PM SHRI scheme, as many as 832 schools including 38 Central government schools have been selected till March 25, 2026 from Telangana.
Thirty-eight Central government schools include 29 Kendriya Vidyalayas and nine Navodaya Vidyalayas in the State.
Around Rs.116.06 crore funds including Central and State share were utilized under the scheme. The PM SHRI scheme was approved on September 7, 2022 and for the State of Telangana, the release of funds started in FY 2023-24.
This was stated by the Union Minister of State
for Education Jayant Chaudhary in Lok Sabha while responding to a question raised by the BJP MP DK Aruna on schools approved under PM-SHRI scheme in Telangana a few days ago.
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, PM SHRI scheme has a provision to saturate PM SHRI schools across the country with 21 NEP components such as computer lab, ICT lab and smart classrooms, library with good furniture, internet facility, vocational skill education, guidance and career counselling, fully equipped integrated science lab, playground with well-equipped sports facilities.
