The traffic police booked 627 cases and collected Rs 4.38 lakh in fines from motorists for using tinted glass and black films on vehicles, on Tuesday across Malkajgiri and Trimulgherry traffic divisions.

According to the officials, the drive was conducted up to the evening. They said the Motor Vehicles Act rules prohibited the use of unauthorised tinted films. Police said such violations compromised visibility and posed

safety risks particularly during night hours and in emergency situations.

Officials stated that tinted films reduce transparency inside vehicles, making it difficult for enforcement agencies to monitor suspicious activities and ensure passenger safety.

The drive was carried out under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Rule 100 and other according sections addressing the visibility standards.
