A five‑year‑old girl suffocated to death after accidentally getting locked inside a car parked in front of her house at Narketpally in Nalgonda district.

The victim, identified as Perni Sharanya, was the daughter of Sathish and Gayatri.

Police said the child, while playing outside in the afternoon, entered a neighbour’s parked car.

When she did not return home after half an hour, her parents

searched the area but could not find her.

Late at night, the car owner noticed a chappal near the vehicle and unlocked the doors. Sharanya was found unconscious in the back seat and rushed to Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences, Narketpally, where doctors declared her dead.

Prima facie, police said it appeared to be a case of suffocation. Based on a complaint lodged by the parents, Narketpally police registered a case and began investigation.
